Our Foaming Bath Butter Base is a soft, buttery and moisturising soap base.
This base product is known by many names:
Foaming Bath Butter, Bubbly Bath souffle, Whipped Soap, Foaming Bath Whip, sugar scrub or sugar whip (when sugar is added), salt scrub or salt whip (when salt is added), and so on. It is the same product despite it’s many names and applications. Essentially it is a light and fluffy cleansing cream that creates a rich, luxurious lather. It is a cleansing product and it can be used instead of soap or shower gel.
It will remain scoopable after processing and therefore should be packed in tubes or tubs. It may be cold processed or hot processed.
Cold Process Technique
To cold process this base, simply use a hand-held mixer to whip the Foaming Bath Butter in a large bowl (product will increase in volume 200% – 300%). During the whipping process you may add your desired additives such as sugar, salt, fragrance oils and/or essential oils. Only a few drops of fragrance and one drop of colour are generally needed (This will vary according to your personal preference in terms of colour depth and fragrance level. Eg: use 1 drop of colour for a pastel shade and 5 drops for a light fragrancing).
Hot Process Technique
You may hot process this base (heating to maximum temperature of 80C). Using a crockpot or heavy-bottom saucepan, warm the bath base whilst stirring continuously. Do not exceed 80C since the preservative is heat sensitive. If you exceed this temperature you will need to add your own preservative. Allow the base to cool to 55C before incorporating your additives such as colour and fragrance. For best results fill your containers when the base is between 47C and 52C.
