Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (SLMI) is a water soluble surfactant which makes it great in water-based products such as shower gel and shampoo. It is derived from coconut which means it produces a fantastic flash foam and dense lather. The dense creamy lather is comparable to that of Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) and it’s flash foam ability is comparable to that of sodium laureth ether sulfate (SLES).
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (SLMI) provides thorough cleansing capabilities, yet it is also very mild. It has large molecules that cannot penetrate the skin and is therefore non-irritating. SLMI is sulfate-free and has an EWG score of 1. This surfactant has been deemed to be very safe, non-toxic, non irritating and biodegradable. These qualities make it suitable for sensitive skin and baby products.
Suggested uses include clear or transparent shampoo, shower gel, body scrub, facial cleansers, shaving cream, blooming bubble bath and hand wash including products intended for sensitive skin and babies.
